Summary

Focuses on the concepts, strategy, writing, and language of the creative being developed for various projects and client requests. Oversees the Creative team to develop creative concepts, content, and copy that are on strategy to assist in the overall visual esthetics. Ensures agency success by leading the creation of all concepts that are consistent with client branding guidelines, client goals, and company procedures. Partners with the other departments in the agency to bring a more holistic approach to the assignments. 

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate assignments and help to identify any issues or resources needed for projects
  • Collaborate with account and strategy partners on assignments
  • Lead project kick-off meetings with senior reative team members, Account, Strategy, and Project Management 
    • Provide a deeper understanding of what it takes to develop creative ideas that follow the brief
    • Answer any questions related to copy and the assignment
    • Provide direction to the team on what each needs to complete within the time frame 
  • Manage all creative brainstorms along with senior Creative team 
    • Provide input on concepting the ideas based on knowledge of current trands, pop culture, and current and past design themes
    • Bring ideas to meeting on how the concepts could activate
    • Build upon other participants ideas
  • Lead a Senior Copywriter or Senior Creative team on creative brainstorming 
    • Oversee the creative of concepts based on the brand(s), the brand guidelines, the target audience, and retailers, 
    • Write copy that is clever, engaging, creative - but always strategic on brief 
    • Work in social, mobile, outdoor, headlines, long-form
    • Work within the industry standars and follow company procedures and protocol 
    • Evaluate and critique work at all stages
    • Elevate team members' understanding of what an idea is and what can make it a great one 
  • Manage the conversation on concepting the ideas - bring ideas to meeting, build upon other participants' ideas
  • Create presentation boards or decks 
  • Present work and others' work with a clear understanding of the assignments and the strategy 
  • Provide clear concise feedback to the team that is actionable and follow-up with the team if there are any questions or conerns 
  • Lead development of direct reports through mentorship, coaching, and ongoing performance feedback and identification of learning opportunities
  • Enter time reports once a week, at a minimum, and expense reports within 10 days of incurred expense 
  • Approve time once a week, at a minimum, and approves expenses within 2 days of receipt 

Must Haves

  • 6 - 8 years of experience in Copywriting 
  • Bachelor Degree in Advertising, Journalism, or relevant field 
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Knowledge of the industry 
  • Thorough knowledge of current rends, pop culture, current and past design themes
  • Complete understanding of specified brand(s), brand guidelines, and retailers as they relate to the projects
  • Understanding of how to craft language that in introductory, educational, inspirational, formal, humourous, straightforward and we can overall grab the attention of the viewer
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated through actions such as effectively proofing work to ensure accuracy, and actively and effectively managing timelines and deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of client category, business, and objectives, and a clear understanding of key strategic issues impacting client's business
