Summary

The Account Director serves as an account lead of the Experiential team for a large account team based in our Chicago office. The AD is responsible for managing overall business and ensuring all team members are working together to deliver brilliant work to our clients. The AD provides strategic leadership and direction to both the internal team and to the client across all business units. The AD serves as the primary agency contact for the business as it pertains to larger strategic initiatives and assignments, often engaging with Director client level.

What You'll Do

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

  • Manage day to day commercial activity with account team
    • Align expectations and monitor team work flow
    • Provide critical day-to-day supervision
    • Identify and suggest Training/Development needs
    • Provide ongoing performance feedback, and instill constant feedback top-down
  • Manage the creative process from briefing through concept development with respect to commercial programming
  • Lead development of presentations and programmatic launch and reporting materials
  • Oversee and maintain high execution standards while continuously identifying opportunities to improve/maximize programming
  • Identify opportunities for incremental business growth
  • Coordinate with key partners across the agency (development, operations, creative, strategy, analytics, etc.) to execute all aspects of successful commercial programming
  • Positively contribute and maintain strong relationships with key IAT partners
  • High-level thinking
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Coordinate with key field marketing partners to ensure seamless execution of all commercial programming

FINANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Budget creation oversight, management and reconciliation
  • Manage resources to ensure client profitability
  • Work with client lead for overall staffing/resource allocation
  • Manage client billing and financial status reports at a higher level

STRATEGIC THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

  • Work with client lead to guide commercial program planning process
  • Provide strong thought leadership across various brand IATs
  • Partner with strategic planning and creative teams for concept development
  • Contribute commercially relevant insights for brainstorms
  • Work with team and analytic partners to develop measurement criteria for all projects and hold team accountable for results
  • Have a pulse on current trends and a keen understanding of trade marketing
  • Understand industry and competitive landscape
  • Lead and participate in RFP responses as needed and appropriate

CLIENT SERVICE

  • Provide support to client lead to effectively manage high-level and locally relevant field marketing clients
  • Build relationships up through client organization at senior level
  • Work with account lead to provide effective solutions to meet client needs and business development opportunities
  • Work with account lead to consistently bring higher thinking in experiential and commercial marketing 

THE WORK

  • Lead strategic direction for key client projects, overseeing and providing direction to a multi-functional team
  • Work closely with client brand, sales, customer and insights teams in the development of ideas
  • Ensure creative delivers against communication requirements of brand and commercial teams
  • Write inspirational, well-crafted experiential and/or commercial creative briefs
  • Write and present strategic story and supporting materials
  • Design and develop research plans and analysis of consumer research data, including test-and-learn protocol
  • Work with client and internal partners to develop program measurement metrics
  • Become an indispensable partner to the client organization
  • Lead and maintain close working relationships with sister agencies to rally the entire organization around solving client business questions
  • Support day-to-day execution of commercial program execution and national field activity
  • Positively contribute to IAT meetings
  • Ability to maintain compliance standards

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 10+ years experience that includes:
  • Deep knowledge of and experience in experiential and commercial marketing practices and principles
  • Understanding of how to activation experiential sponsorships and partnerships
  • Understanding of how to activate commercial marketing programming in various experiential spaces – on-premise, off-premise and non-premise (i.e.: stadiums, festivals, etc.)
  • Ideally would have experience in working within multiple categories, including but not limited to spirits, CPG, beverage, tobacco, etc.
  • Keen understanding of compliance needs within a highly regulated industry
  • Deep curiosity about and understanding of how to map the consumer experience
  • Strategy knowledge consumer behavior as it relates to interactions within the digital, mobile, e-commerce and brick and mortar environments
  • Fundamentals of qualitative and quantitative research methods and data analysis
  • Current knowledge of industry, culture and trends
  • Strong understanding of agency processes
  • Experience with oversight of fabrication and asset development and management

  • Evaluator – drives a culture of effectiveness, ensuring that objectives are clear and evaluation is robust, in order to ensure continuous improvement of communications and wise allocation of budgets
  • Problem Solver – Has the ability to objectively and systematically assess and analyze issues, developing effective solutions
  • Presence – strong presentation skills and the ability to command an audience while bringing strategy and commercially relevant programming to life
  • Researcher – well versed and knowledgeable in the various research techniques and methods and research design
  • Ability to cultivate and develop young Account talent
