Summary

The Account Director serves as the account lead of the Shopper Marketing team for a large account team based in our Chicago office. The AD is responsible for managing overall business and ensuring all team members are working together to deliver brilliant work to our clients. The AD provides strategic leadership and direction to both the internal team and to the client across all business units. The AD serves as the primary agency contact for the business as it pertains to larger strategic initiatives and assignments.

What You'll Do

Account Management

  • Manage activity with account team
    • Align expectations and monitor team work flow
    • Provide critical day-to-day supervision
    • Identify and suggest Training/Development needs
    • Provide ongoing performance feedback, and instill constant feedback top-down
  • Manage the creative process
  • Lead the annual cross-functional planning process; serving as the lead within the agency model
  • Brief the creative team either personally or through close oversight of Account Supervisor, reviewing concept and comp materials
  • Work with team in the development of concepts and supporting tactics
  • Lead development of proposal/deck presentations
  • Work with manager to maintain high standards and push forward key insights and ideas in most impactful fashion
  • Identify opportunities for incremental business
  • Constantly provide added-value ideas
  • High-level thinking

Finance Management

  • Manage resources to ensure client profitability
  • Manage client billing and financial status reports at a higher level
  • Manage clients total Shopper Marketing Budget (budget shifts, program reconciliation, program estimate oversight, etc)

Strategic Thought Leadership

  • Work with client lead to guide upfront planning process
  • Partner with strategic planning and creative teams for concept development
  • Contribute insights for brainstorms
  • Work with client lead to develop measurement criteria for all projects, holding appropriate team accountable for results

Client Service

  • Provide support to client lead to effectively manage high-level global clients
  • Build relationships up through client organization at senior level
  • Work with client lead to contribute ideas effectively for client business plans
  • Work with client lead to constantly bring higher thinking in shopper marketing within retail environment

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising or similar
  • Enthusiasm for the promotions/advertising/shopper/marketing fields
  • 8+ years of marketing, advertising or agency experience
  • Digital/shopper marketing experience a must
  • Solid shopper marketing experience at a major retail chain; an intimate understanding of drug, mass, and CPG from both a brand and promotion perspective
  • Direct experience with category managers in a retail environment
  • Experience with digital/shopper activation mechanisms
  • Promotions and customer marketing experience required
  • Excellent management skills, with the proven experience to lead a team and client with confidence and magnetic, intelligent, strategic leadership
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Team player who is positive and upbeat with high potential for coaching and mentoring
